Intel denies rumors of difficulties with the production of 5G modems for Apple

Despite the fact that in a number of countries commercial 5G networks will be deployed this year, Apple is in no hurry to release devices capable of operating in fifth-generation communication networks. The company is waiting for the relevant technologies to become widespread. Apple chose a similar strategy several years ago, when the first 4G networks were just appearing. The company has remained true to this principle even after some Android device manufacturers announced the imminent arrival of 5G smartphones.

Intel denies rumors of difficulties with the production of 5G modems for Apple

The first iPhone with a 5G modem is expected to be introduced in 2020. Earlier it was reported that Intel, which should become a supplier of 5G modems for Apple, had production difficulties. In this scenario, Apple could have found a new supplier, but Qualcomm and Samsung refused to make modems for the new iPhones.

Intel decided not to stand aside and hastened to refute rumors that the production of XMM 8160 5G modems will be delayed. The Intel statement does not mention Apple, but for many it is not a secret who the vendor means when discussing the supply of 5G modems. An Intel representative confirmed that, according to statements made last fall, the company will supply its modems for mass production of 5G-enabled devices in 2020. This means that Apple fans will likely be able to get their hands on the long-awaited XNUMXG-enabled iPhone next year.
