Intel has published an open monospace font One Mono

Intel has published an open monospaced font, One Mono, for use in terminal emulators and code editors. The original components of the font are distributed under the OFL 1.1 license (Open Font License), which allows unlimited modification of the font, including its use for commercial purposes, printing, and on Web sites. Files prepared for download are TrueType (TTF), OpenType (OTF), UFO (source files), WOFF, and WOFF2 formats suitable for downloading in code editors such as VSCode and Sublime Text, as well as for use on the Web.

The font was prepared with the help of a group of visually impaired developers and is aimed at providing the best legibility of characters and reducing eye fatigue and strain in the process of working with code. Characters and glyphs are designed to maximize the differences between similar characters such as "l", "L" and "1", and to emphasize the difference between uppercase and lowercase characters (compared to other fonts, the height of uppercase and lowercase letters differs more) . The font has also increased the service symbols used in programming, such as slashes, curly, square and parentheses. The letters show more pronounced rounded areas, such as the arcs in the letters "d" and "b".

The best readability in the proposed font is observed at sizes from 9 pixels when displayed on the screen and 7 pixels when printed. The font is positioned as multilingual, includes 684 glyphs and supports more than 200 Latin-based languages (Cyrillic is not yet supported). There are 4 character thicknesses available (Light, Regular, Medium, and Bold) and support for italics. The set provides support for such OpenType extensions as contextually applied raising colon, character display adjustments depending on the selected language, different forms of superscripts and subscripts, alternate styles, and display of fractions.
