Announced today, the Lunar Lake processor will be Intel's new flagship solution for thin laptops. It is based on the new Lion Cove P-Cores and Skymont E-Cores. The latter have undergone very serious changes - their final performance, compared to previous cores of the same class used in Meteor Lake, has almost doubled. Lion Cove's P-cores have received a fair amount of microarchitecture improvements, but Skymont's E-cores look like real stars even compared to them. Compared to the previous generation of Crestmont E-cores (which are used in Meteor Lake), IPC in integer tasks increased by 38%, and in floating point algorithms by 68%. In addition, Intel has doubled Skymont's performance on vector workloads that use AVX and VNNI instructions.
