Intel introduces new Core vPro and Xeon W for corporate desktops and laptops

Intel has expanded its range of processors for enterprise systems with new models of the Comet Lake family. The manufacturer introduced the tenth generation mobile Core with vPro support, as well as mobile and desktop Xeon W-1200. In addition, it was announced which of the Comet Lake-S Core chips introduced at the end of last month support vPro technology.

For thin and light laptops, Intel introduced Core U-series chips (TDP level 15 W) with support for vPro technology. The Core i5-10310U and Core i7-10610U processors have four cores and eight threads each, and their base frequencies are 1,7 and 1,8 GHz, respectively. In turn, the flagship Core i7-10810U has six cores and twelve threads, and its base frequency is only 1,1 GHz.

For more productive mobile systems, Core H-series chips with support for vPro and Xeon W-1200M are offered. They have four, six or eight cores, and each of the new products supports Hyper-Threading technology. These processors have a much higher TDP of 45W, which provides them with increased base clock speeds from 2,3 to 2,8 GHz.

Next, Intel announced that a large number of the Comet Lake-S family of Core desktop processors previously introduced support vPro technology. We are talking about ten-core Core i9, eight-core Core i7 and six-core Core i5. See the table below for a complete list of XNUMXth Generation Core chips with vPro technology.

In addition, for entry-level Core workstations, Intel introduced the Xeon W-1200 processors, listed in the lower column of the table above. In fact, these are the same tenth generation desktop Cores, but with support for ECC memory, and other TDP indicators for some models. The Xeon W-1200 chips will offer six to ten cores with Hyper-Threading support. The base frequencies of new products range from 1,9 to 4,1 GHz. The new Xeons will only work with motherboards based on the Intel W480 system logic.

Next-generation vPro-enabled processors have Intel Hardware Shield built in to provide protection against firmware-level (BIOS) attacks, according to Intel. There is also support for Intel EMA (Endpoint Management Assistant) technology for remote administration, which is part of Intel AMT (Active Management Technology).
