The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has published Intel's patent application for "Technologies for hinges for dual screen devices".
We are talking about laptops that have a second screen in place of the usual keyboard. Prototypes of such Intel devices are already at last year's Computex 2018. For example, a computer codenamed Tiger Rapids was equipped with a familiar color display and an additional full-size screen on E Ink electronic paper.
But back to Intel's patent application. It was sent to the USPTO at the end of last year, but the document has only just been released.
Intel offers a variety of hinge options for the two halves of a laptop chassis. The main task of the articulation is to minimize the width of the gap between the displays.
It is noted that the mount will provide the ability to rotate the halves of the computer 360 degrees. This will allow you to use the device in tablet mode with two displays on opposite sides of the case. In addition, users will be able to use the gadget in book mode and a traditional laptop.
