Intel Corporation, according to the resource Tom's Hardware, has decided to stop further development of Compute Card modules - small computers with dimensions comparable to the size of a bank card.

Intel Compute Card products were presented at the CES 2017 Consumer Electronics Show. The idea was to create a computer module that will be installed in a special slot of the station with a display. Such a station could take the form of a laptop, a desktop all-in-one PC, a terminal, etc.

"Despite its compact size, the Intel Compute Card will be the best solution not only for entry-level devices, but also for full-featured systems," the IT corporation said.

But, apparently, the future of the Compute Card modules turned out to be vague. Intel says there are plenty of opportunities in the modular computer market, but Compute Card products in their current form will no longer be made.

Intel also added that sales and support for existing Compute Card solutions will continue throughout the year. At the same time, no specific deadlines for curtailing deliveries were announced.
