Intel uses DXVK code in its Windows drivers

Intel has begun testing a significant Windows driver update Intel Arc Graphics Driver 31.0.101.3959 for video cards with Arc (Alchemist) and Iris (DG1) GPUs, as well as for integrated GPUs shipped in processors based on the Tiger Lake, Rocket Lake, Alder Lake microarchitecture and Raptor Lake. The most significant changes in the new version relate to work to increase the performance of games using DirectX 9. It is assumed that the optimizations are implemented by using code from the free DXVK project in the driver, which provides a layer with the implementation of DXGI (DirectX Graphics Infrastructure), Direct3D 9, 10 and 11, working through call translation to the Vulkan API.

The mention of DXVK appeared in a file listing third-party open projects whose code was used in the driver. In addition, in the video explaining the changes related to DirectX 9 support, it is mentioned that this API is implemented through call translation to a more modern graphics API, while DXVK is developed for such translation. The mention of a hybrid implementation of DirectX 9 in the Intel Arc Graphics Driver is also present in one of the notes on the Intel blog.
