In particular, they discussed the creation of the Baiterek space rocket complex. This joint project between Russia and Kazakhstan was launched back in 2004. The main goal is to launch spacecraft from the Baikonur Cosmodrome with environmentally friendly launch vehicles instead of the Proton rocket that uses toxic fuel components.

Within the framework of the Baiterek project, the launch, technical and assembly and test complexes for the Zenit launch vehicle at the Baikonur Cosmodrome will be modernized for the new Russian medium-class launch vehicle Soyuz-5.

So, it is reported that during the meeting, Russia and Kazakhstan agreed on the procedure for further joint practical actions to implement the project to create the Baiterek complex. Flight tests are scheduled to begin in 2022.
