Research and Production Association named after. S.A. Lavochkina (JSC NPO Lavochkina), as reported by TASS, spoke about the implementation of the Luna-25 (Luna-Glob) project to study the natural satellite of our planet.
This initiative, we recall, is aimed at studying the surface of the Moon in the circumpolar region, as well as developing soft landing technology. The automatic station, among other things, will have to study the internal structure of the Earth's satellite and explore natural resources.
βFor the Luna-25 project, this year the development of design documentation is being completed, products are being manufactured for ground-based experimental testing, and tests of the components of the spacecraft are being carried out,β said NPO Lavochkina.
It should be noted that the implementation of the Luna-25 mission was greatly delayed. The launch of the device was planned five years ago - in 2014, but difficulties arose during the development of the station. Now the expected start date is 2021.
NPO Lavochkin also mentioned the next mission within the Russian lunar program - Luna-26. Design documentation for this project will be developed this year. The device is being created to conduct remote studies of the surface of our planetβs natural satellite.
