In March 2020, a team of enthusiasts trailer for the project "Explorer" - the first story modification for Metro 2033. And now anyone can download the mod, as the authors have finished development and made it available for free. Users are waiting for a new story, two locations, notes and other content.
In my official group enthusiasts spoke in detail about the project. The plot in "Explorer" is dedicated to the journey of a merchant from Hansa and an experienced stalker from "Prospect Mira" to the station "Novoslobodskaya". Events unfold in March 2035 - a few weeks after the escape of Artyom, the protagonist of all parts of the series, and his fellow Spartans from Moscow.
When going through the modification, users will be able to visit three locations - the modified Prospekt Mira, the interline (connecting section of the metro lines) and the vicinity of the Novoslobodskaya station. The last two levels were created by developers from scratch. Other features of the project include the presence of notes, the presence of Russian amateur voice acting and increased health of mutants. The authors of the mod recommend stocking up on ammo before foray into dangerous territory.
Enthusiasts emphasized that there are no game designers and scriptwriters in their team. Initially, they planned to make "Explorer" as a test site to test the capabilities of the engine. During the development of the project, the creators encountered many problems, for example, in Metro 2033 there is a limit on the number of objects on one level. Because of this, it was not possible to fill the locations with the desired number of details.
