According to Photo Rumors, the Osmo Action will feature the same 1/2,3-inch 12MP Sony IMX377 CMOS sensor as the Pocket. The camera will be capable of recording video in resolutions up to 4K at 60fps or 1080p at 120fps. However, there is no question of any gimbal with three-axis stabilization.
The sports camera will be equipped with an Ambarella H2 single-chip image processing system, have some kind of image stabilization system (apparently exclusively electronic) and be equipped with two LCD displays (front and rear). The lens, of course, differs from the one used in Pocket: the viewing angle will be 145 degrees, and the aperture will be f/2,8. A shutter speed range from 1/8000 s to 120 s is supported.
Among other things, the HDR shooting mode, automatic time lapse, timer photography, time-lapse photography, burst shooting are mentioned. The Ambarella H2 chip supports 4K video recording in H.265/HEVC format at up to 60fps in 10-bit mode for HDR support. The device is equipped with 4 CPU cores ARM Cortex-A53 @ 1,2 GHz and a USB 3.0 controller.
