Representatives of the Taiwan authorities have recently been trying to use every platform available to them to promote the idea of the importance of the semiconductor industry for the economy of the island. Taiwan aims to increase semiconductor industry revenue by 85% by the end of the decade

Now this figure, according to the resource DigiTimes, does not exceed $91 billion, based on statistics for 2019. The growth dynamics of core revenue is quite high, since this year it can reach $102,5 billion. As already noted, not only self-isolation, but also US sanctions against Huawei, which forced the Chinese company to increase the pace of purchases, played a positive role in shaping the demand for Taiwanese components. components before the bans go into effect.

In volume terms, Taiwan already ranks first in silicon wafer processing and finished semiconductor chip testing. In the integrated circuit development sector, Taiwan is content with the second place, and in the production of memory - only the fourth.

The Taiwanese authorities are going to localize the production of many materials and equipment that are required in the production of semiconductor components. For this purpose, tax preferences are offered to foreign manufacturers. The European manufacturer of lithographic scanners ASML has already opened a training center in Taiwan to train specialists in the field of so-called EUV lithography. The main customers of the center should be employees of TSMC, the largest consumer of ASML products.
