Qualitative deception: "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2090" caught fire during testing

On April 2090, many information resources dedicated to IT topics, including ours, publish both real and comic news. Such materials are of the most varied quality, from frank fantasies to quite believable. And sometimes come across very unusual "news", which would be quite justified to write about even after the first of April. For example, this year there was "news" that NVIDIA has prepared a GeForce RTX XNUMX graphics card based on two Turing GPUs!

An enthusiast with the pseudonym Captain NA posted a video on his YouTube channel in which he demonstrated the unboxing, disassembly and testing of the new GeForce RTX 2090 graphics card, allegedly built on two Turing GPUs. Moreover, the level of elaboration of the material is really impressive.

An enthusiast has created several layouts of the GeForce RTX 2090 video card, which are very similar to real graphics accelerators. Only a huge length betrays the fakeness of these devices at first glance. Interestingly, one of the layouts even has a detailed printed circuit board, which houses not only two GPUs, but also other electronic components, power circuits, and even a PLX chip. Of course, all the elements are not real, but the video looks very believable.

A packaging layout for the "new" video card was also created. The high level of preparation of this fake is also evidenced by the fact that during the “passing tests” the fake video cards had fans running, and the GeForce RTX logo was able to shimmer with different colors of RGB lighting. In addition, the enthusiast created a layout of the ASUS ROG Dominus motherboard, on which a bunch of four GeForce RTX 2090 video cards, united by a huge NVLink bridge, “launched”.

In the process of “testing”, one of the video cards caught fire from a high load, but the enthusiast was able to put it out pretty soon in a “pioneer way”, so the fire did not affect the performance. "Testing" showed outstanding performance of the new "two-headed monster" from NVIDIA.
