The MTS operator reported on the development of mobile communications infrastructure in the capital region in 2019: it is reported that 4G network coverage in the Moscow region has reached the level of Moscow.
It is said that last year MTS built more than 3,2 thousand base stations, the vast majority of which operate in the 4G/LTE standard. A third of the “towers” were launched in Moscow, the rest in the Moscow region.
Outside the Moscow Ring Road, coverage of the MTS mobile 4G network exceeded 90%. In some localities this figure is almost 100%.
In 2019, the MTS operator completed the construction of a 4G network in the tunnels of the Moscow metro, installed new base stations along the M11 Neva highway Moscow - St. Petersburg, as well as on sections of the Central Ring Road, Moscow Central Diameters and other highways.
Moreover, the company is conducting research in the field of fifth generation mobile networks (5G). Test zones, in particular, operate on the territory of VDNH.
Finally, it is said that in 2019, MTS built a fixed data network in five cities in the Moscow region: Elektrostal, Lyubertsy, Dzerzhinsky, Kotelniki and Pushkino. Taking into account this construction, about 500 thousand households in 58 settlements of the Moscow region have access to high-speed home Internet.
