Google has just Reading view in Chrome browser for PC and mobile devices. However, this feature is far from new. It is in the original Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox and Safari, and now it including on Chromium-based Edge.
Microsoft wants its new browser to include this feature from the start, and has already added it to Microsoft Edge Canary. This will make it easier to read long texts, since the mode will cut off unnecessary graphic elements of sites, advertisements, and so on.
By default, this mode is disabled, but it can be easily activated. To do this, do the following:
- Enter edge://flags in the address bar.
- Find the Microsoft Edge Reading View flag.
- Change its mode from Default to Enabled.
- Restart browser.
After that, a book icon will appear in the address bar, clicking on which will switch the browser to the reading mode of this site. It is important to note that the mode works with restrictions. There is no icon on the main page of 3dnews.ru, but if there is any publication, it appears. Apparently, the system keeps track of the minimum amount of text required to activate the mode.
Needless to say, it's important to remember that this feature is still part of the Microsoft Edge preview, so it may be a while before it moves to beta and stable builds. This should happen at the end of this year, although the company has not yet announced the exact date.
