ASUS has released the ThunderboltEX 3-TR expansion card, which allows you to equip your desktop computer with high-speed Thunderbolt 3 ports with a bandwidth of up to 40 Gbps.
The novelty is intended for ASUS motherboards based on Intel Z490 and H470 chipsets equipped with a TB3 connector. The product is based on the Intel Titan Ridge JHL7540 Thunderbolt 3 controller.
The ThunderboltEX 3-TR solution is designed as a single-slot, full-size PCI-Express 3.0 x4 expansion card. The interface bar has two Thunderbolt 3 ports based on symmetrical USB Type-C connectors. In addition, there are two mini-DisplayPort inputs for connecting to the DisplayPort outputs of the graphics accelerator installed in the system.
The card receives power through a six-pin connector. The package includes a full set of required cables, including short mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort cables.
The ThunderboltEX 3-TR solution is available for an estimated price of $90.
