Cyber attack forced Honda to suspend production worldwide for a day

According to a spokesman for the automaker, the hack affected Honda on a global scale, forcing the company to shut down some factories due to lack of assurance that quality control systems would be fully functional after the hackers intervened. The hack affected email and other systems in factories around the world, causing the company to send many employees home.

According to a Honda spokesperson, the ransomware targeted one of the company's internal servers. He added that the virus has spread throughout the network, but did not go into details.

Most of the company's factories have been reopened for now, according to the Financial Times, but Honda's car factories in Ohio and Turkey and motorcycle factories in Brazil and India are reportedly still closed.

The company insists that its data was not stolen and that the hack had minimal impact on its business. Honda has more than 400 branches around the world, employing about 220 people.
