Kickstarter campaign to open source Sciter

Goes to Kickstarter fundraising campaign for the purpose of opening the source code sciter. Period: 16.09-18.10. Collected: $2679/97104.

Sciter is an embeddable cross-platform HTML/CSS/TIScript engine for creating GUIs for desktop, mobile and IoT applications that has been used for a long time hundreds of companies Worldwide. All these years, Sciter has been a closed source project - its creator, Andrey Fedonyuk, was its sole developer. But it looks like it's time to bring in other developers to develop a lightweight alternative to Electron!

Objectives:

  • Open the source code of Sciter approximately 2 months after the successful completion of the campaign.
  • The JavaScript variant of Sciter is the same engine, but with JavaScript instead of the one used by TIScript. The goal is to run popular JS frameworks as-is or with minimal porting effort. It is currently planned to use QuickJS, to keep the engine as compact as possible, but a V8 can be used if needed. Plans to make an alternative to Electron in the spirit of Sciter.Quark.
  • Sciter.JS Inspector is a DOM explorer and script debugger. Integration of Sciter with other languages, in particular, Sciter Goso that the Go compiler can produce monolithic Go/GUI redistributables. Other projects that the community will come up with.

It is planned to release Sciter under the GPL license.

Additional goals:
If the campaign raises twice as much money as advertised, then Sciter will be published under the BSD license.
