China invites other countries to join lunar exploration project

The Chinese side continues to implement its own project aimed at exploring the Moon. This time, all interested countries are invited to join Chinese scientists to jointly implement the mission of the Chang'e-6 spacecraft. This statement was made by Deputy Head of the PRC Lunar Program Liu Jizhong at the presentation of the project. Proposals from interested parties will be accepted and considered until August 2019.

China invites other countries to join lunar exploration project

The report says that China is encouraging not only local institutes and private companies to participate in lunar exploration, but also foreign organizations. This means that all interested parties can apply to participate in the project, which is to be implemented in the next four years. Mr. Jizhong noted that the exact time frame and location of the spacecraft landing on the lunar surface have not yet been determined.

It also became known that the Chang'e-6 apparatus will be formed from 4 separate modules. We are talking about an orbital aircraft, a special landing module, a take-off module from the surface of the Moon, as well as a return vehicle. The main task of the spacecraft is to collect samples of lunar soil in automatic mode, as well as the subsequent delivery of materials to Earth. It is expected that the device will land at the selected location after changing the earth's orbit to the lunar one. Preliminary calculations showed that the payload of the orbiter and landing module will be about 10 kg.
