China Antitrust Authorities Extend NVIDIA-Mellanox Deal Consideration

China Antitrust Authorities Extend NVIDIA-Mellanox Deal Consideration

Last year, NVIDIA expected to absorb the Israeli developer of high-speed interfaces Mellanox. The latter's products are used in the supercomputer segment, on which NVIDIA makes a serious bet. Industry analysts believe that the conclusion of this transaction will give additional impetus to the growth of the company's shares. The problem so far is that the Chinese antimonopoly authorities have not yet voiced their official position on this deal.

As the Seeking Alpha citing Dealreporter, the competent Chinese authorities this month extended the deadline for considering the transaction due to the expiration of the previous 180-day period. According to the terms of the agreement between the parties, the transaction must be considered before March 10, but the possibility of extending the period until June 10 is provided. This week, NVIDIA shares have updated the historical maximum of the market value. This is a consequence of the recently published quarterly report, in which analysts considered enough reasons for optimism. Some of them, in addition, believe that next-generation GPUs will be released in the foreseeable future, and the deal with Mellanox will be brought to its logical conclusion.
