Chinese brand Longsys aims to release "XNUMX% Chinese" flash drives

Recently, the largest Chinese OEM and ODM manufacturer of various flash drives, Longsys, celebrated its 20th anniversary. During the festivities there were voiced a lot of interesting. In particular, Yangtze Memory Technologies (YMTC) was named among the many partners in the supply of flash chips and controllers. Recall that this is China's first manufacturer of multilayer 3D NAND flash memory. YMTC is currently supplying limited quantities of 32-layer 3D NAND and is preparing to produce 64-layer chips later in the year. Using YMTC chips, Longsys plans to launch "100% Chinese" flash drives soon.

Longsys also uses developments from Chinese companies as controllers for SSDs and memory cards. These are controllers from developers such as Yeetor Microelectronics and Maxio Technology. Chip packaging will be handled by Payton technology and Zhen Kun Technology. Together with local partners, Longsys intends to grow in China the industry for the production of memory chips, controllers and products based on them. At the same time, one should not assume that the company does not think about the supply of these products abroad. Back in 2017 Longsys has acquired Micron has a flash drive business and the well-known Lexar brand in the West. In the US, Europe and other regions of the world, these all-Chinese products may appear under the familiar brand there and will not cause rejection.

Returning to YMTC memory, let us clarify that in November 2018, Longsys concluded strategic partnership with YMTC mother Tsinghua Unigroup. The latter, through its subsidiaries, plans to supply Longsys with both YMTC-produced memory and Intel-produced memory from its Dalian plant. I wonder if the use of YMTC and Intel memory will be somehow marked on Longsys flash drives?
