KolibriN 10.1 is an operating system written in assembler

Exit Announced KolibriN 10.1 An operating system written primarily in assembler.

KolibriN on the one hand, this is a user-friendly version Hummingbirds, on the other hand, its maximum assembly. In other words, the project was created to show the beginner all the possibilities available in the alternative Kolibri operating system at the moment. Assembly highlights:

  • Powerful multimedia features: FPlay video player, zSea image viewer, GrafX2 graphics editor.
  • Readers: uPDF, BF2Reder, TextReader.
  • The package includes games, including Doom, Loderunner, Pig, Jumpbump and game console emulators: NES, SNES, Gameboy
    DosBox, ScummVM and ZX Spectrum emulators will run hundreds of old applications and games.
  • Also included in the delivery: a PDF document viewer, Dicty translator, development tools and many other programs.
  • Added GUI personalization utilities.
  • Tested and debugged compared to nightly builds Kolibri.

The project is open and everyone can take part in it, it is distributed on the terms GPLv2.

Of the main changes in the new version:

  • Added support for reading from the XFS file system in v4 (2013) and v5 (2020) formats.
  • The number of handled interrupts has been increased from 24 to 56.
  • Added handling of more than one I/O APIC.
  • Improved reload algorithm: now the Reset register from the FADT table is used, if it is available.
  • Correct sound detection on the newest AMD chips.
  • Fixes in the search for an additional folder.
  • The WebView text browser has been updated from version 1.8 to 2.46: web page cache, tabs, online update, dynamic memory allocation, manual encoding selection, encoding autodetection, support for DOCX files, navigation through anchors, reading has become more convenient.
  • Changes in the SHELL command shell: improved text insertion, navigation along the edited line, error output, added highlighting of folders in the listing.
  • Updated documentation.
