Lead Producer Leaves Halo Infinite Team

Halo Infinite lead producer Mary Olson has left 343 Industries to join Midwinter Entertainment.

Lead Producer Leaves Halo Infinite Team

Team Halo Infinite in August this year left the creative director Tim Longo (Tim Longo). Now 343 Industries has lost Mary Olson, who has joined former Halo producer Josh Holmes to work on multiplayer online project Scavengers. Who will replace her is still unknown.

After Tim Longo's departure, netizens assumed that Olson had taken over his duties, but as 343 Industries community manager John Junyszek clarified, this is not the case.

β€œI wanted to jump in and clarify what roles Tim and Mary had in the studio because there seems to be quite a bit of confusion here,” wrote he's on Reddit. β€œBefore that happens, I would like to assure everyone that the entire Halo Infinite team is hard at work on the game […]. Tim's role as creative director was to help make creative decisions regarding the design and direction of the game - be it campaign, multiplayer, and so on. Mary's role as Executive Producer and later Lead Producer of the campaign was to help bring it to completion for release around Christmas 2020 […] Unfortunately, the title of the post saying β€³He was replaced by Mary Olson and she left too β€³ is far from accurate. It means that Mary took control of the whole game, didn't like what she saw, and then decided to leave. If that were the case, I could totally understand the concern - but that's not the case as she was the lead producer and not the new creative director."

The community manager then noted that there is no creative dilemma at 343 Industries.

β€œThe title [of the post] is highly misleading, there is no creative dilemma in the studio, and there is no graffiti on the walls,” he wrote. Sorry for the long post, but I hope this helps clarify!

Halo Infinite will release in Fall 2020 alongside the next generation Xbox. The game will also go on sale on PC and Xbox One.
