Commercial launches of the heavy Angara will begin no earlier than 2025

The first launches of the Angara heavy launch vehicle under commercial contracts will be organized no earlier than the middle of the next decade. This, according to TASS, was announced by International Launch Services (ILS).

Recall that ILS has the exclusive right to market and commercially operate the Russian Proton heavy-class launch vehicle and the Angara advanced space rocket system. The ILS company is registered in the USA, and the controlling stake is owned by the Russian State Space Research and Production Center named after M.V. Khrunichev.

As ILS President Kirk Peischer noted, commercial space launches of the new Russian heavy-class carrier Angara will begin no earlier than 2025. At the same time, the head of ILS confirmed that in the future the company intends to organize work with this missile.

β€œWe do not expect commercial launches of Angara until around 2025. Then, in the end, there will be a transition period, and it will end, probably in 2026-2027, ”said the head of ILS.

The first launch of the heavy-class carrier Angara-A5 took place in December 2014. The next start is scheduled for December this year.
