AMD has released a version of the Ryzen AI software for GNU/Linux.

AMD has released Ryzen AI Software 1.6.1, adding initial Linux support. Previously, the package was only available for Windows. Ubuntu 24.04 LTS is now officially supported.

The update enables the use of the Ryzen AI NPU for CNN (INT8/BF16), NLP (BF16), and large language models (LLM), though LLM requires at least 64 GB of RAM (minimum 32 GB) to run comfortably. Access to Linux binary builds is currently limited to registered AMD customers, making it difficult to use and test on Linux.
