Billionaire Elon Musk's Boring Company has officially awarded its first commercial contract for a $48,7 million underground transportation system near the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC).
The project, called the Campus Wide People Mover (CWPM, Campus-Wide Passenger Shuttle Transport), is designed to make it easier for people to move around the convention center area due to its expansion. When completed, the entire facility will cover about 200 acres (0,8 km2) and people will have to travel about two miles (3,2 km) to walk from one end of the complex to the other.
Elon Musk said that the construction of the underground transport system will begin in two months. Completion is scheduled for the end of the year.
