Intel introduced discrete graphics

Intel has introduced the Iris Xe MAX graphics chip, designed for thin laptops. This graphics chip is the first representative of discrete graphics based on the Xe architecture. The Iris Xe MAX platform uses Deep Link technology (described in detail at the link) and supports PCIe Gen 4. Deep Link technology will be supported on Linux in the VTune and OpenVINO tools.

In gaming tests, the Iris Xe MAX competes with the NVIDIA GeForce MX350, and in video encoding, Intel promises that it will be twice as good as NVIDIA's RTX 2080 SUPER NVENC

Currently, Intel Iris Xe MAX graphics are available in Acer Swift 3x, Asus VivoBook Flip TP470 and Dell Inspiron 15 7000 2 in 1 devices.

In addition to mobile devices, Intel is working to bring discrete graphics to desktop PCs in the first half of 2021.
