Lenovo starts shipping ThinkPad laptops with Fedora Linux preinstalled

Matthew Miller, Fedora project leader, сообщил about the availability of ordering the first ThinkPad laptop with Fedora Workstation preinstalled on the Lenovo website. With Fedora, only a model is offered so far ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 8", costing from 1287 dollars. In addition to the model shown, Lenovo previously plannedand ship with Fedora laptops ThinkPad P1 Gen2 ΠΈ ThinkPad P53, but the option to ship with Linux has not yet appeared for them.

For pre-installation, a regular build of Fedora 32 is offered, using the official repositories of the project, allowing only applications under open and free licenses to be placed (users who need proprietary NVIDIA drivers can install them separately). In preparation for the release of Fedora 32, engineers from Red Hat and Lenovo jointly made sure that the distribution was fully ready to run on these laptops. Lenovo representatives also took part in solving problems and fixing errors.
