Mozilla has assured users that it is not going to abandon the image of a fox on the Firefox logo. In recent days, the network has been actively discussing disinformation about the disappearance of the fox from the Firefox logo, which has become a source of memes and outrage.
The Firefox logos haven't changed since 2019, and the foxless logo that's been touted in discussions as the new Firefox logo is actually a long-standing generic logo covering not only Firefox, but the entire browser-related product family. The Firefox browser logo remains the same and contains an image of a fox (in the image below, the current logo is shown in the center of the second line, and the common logo for all products is shown to the right of it).
To reinforce their commitment to the fox, Mozilla developers have replaced the Firefox nightly builds logo with a special version of the old dog logo from one of the memes.
