Yandex launched a service that evaluates
For the new service, a special self-isolation index was calculated, which can take values ββfrom 0 (a large number of people on the city streets) to 5 (the vast majority of people stay at home). The self-isolation index is calculated on the basis of anonymized data on the use of Yandex applications by citizens. The data obtained is reduced to a single scale, where 0 corresponds to the situation during rush hour on a weekday, and 5 corresponds to the state of the streets at night.
Currently, the service provides data on all Russian cities with a population of over 1 million people. In addition, users can see a histogram by day for some large cities, such as Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, etc. In addition, a special informer was launched that displays data on the self-isolation of cities with a population of over 100 people. Now it is displayed on the main page of Yandex, as well as in the Yandex.Maps service. It is expected that in the near future it will be possible to calculate the self-isolation index for cities with a population of 000 or more.
The company notes that the need to comply with self-isolation affects how people use Yandex applications. For example, fewer routes are built in Yandex.Navigator, while the time spent by users in Yandex.Ether and Yandex.Zen, on the contrary, has increased. At the same time, the Yandex.Metro application practically ceased to be used.
