Who used cheap? Samsung and LG Display are selling LCD production lines

According to a South Korean website ETNews, Samsung Display and LG Display aim to sell their low efficiency production lines as quickly as possible. As a result, this should lead to the transfer of the β€œcenter of gravity” to the production of new generation panels, including varieties of OLED and quantum dot displays. In this, Korean companies are still ahead of the Chinese.

According to industry reports cited by the source, Samsung recently sold used equipment for the production of LCD panels on 8th generation substrates. The L8-1 line at the Asan plant (Samsung's A3 plant) will be dismantled by a Samsung subsidiary and shipped in February to China, where it will be installed in August. The buyer was Efonlong from Shenzhen. The price of the issue is not disclosed.

Instead of the L8-1 line, Samsung will install equipment for the production of quantum dot displays at the enterprise. It is probably a long-planned pilot line for the production of QD-OLED panels, but it is not known exactly. Samsung representatives declined to comment. The second line at Samsung's Asana L8-2 plant will continue to produce LCD panels for premium products for the time being, although Samsung is rumored to be looking for a buyer for its equipment. As soon as one is found, Samsung will immediately get rid of it, since the company clearly indicated the course to liquidate its own LCD production. And the sooner this happens, the more benefits the company expects from such a transaction.

LG Display is also seeking a buyer for its LCD production line. In particular, LG Display is looking to get rid of equipment on the 8G generation line at the P8 factory. This space is planned for the production line for OLED panels and the company expects to release it as soon as possible. LG Display New Deal Too defined and even officially confirmed. At CES 2020, LG Display President Jeong Ho-young announced that his company will get rid of the production of liquid crystal panels by the end of this year. In just a year, every new LCD monitor, display and TV will be on Chinese or Taiwanese panels. I wonder how soon China will force Taiwan to stop producing LCD?
