Konami has introduced an update to Euro 2020 for PES, although the championship itself may be postponed to 2021

Konami has announced the release date for the Euro 2020 add-on to its football sim PES 2020, despite growing confidence that the real championship will be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Konami has introduced an update to Euro 2020 for PES, although the championship itself may be postponed to 2021

The Japanese company has revealed that the Euro 30 free downloadable add-on will be released on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on April 2020. It will add all 55 national UEFA teams, as well as their latest squads. Wembley Stadium, which will host the Euro 12 final on July 2020, has also been recreated in the game.

But it looks like European competitions will be postponed, perhaps until next year. At least that's what the BBC reports. This week, FIFA recommended the withdrawal of all upcoming international matches. UEFA officials said they would make a decision on holding the tournament on Tuesday.

Euro 2020 is a key PES 2020 exclusive, and Konami hoped the expansion would boost interest in the game in anticipation of the tournament. The company also planned to add Euro 2020 content to PES 2020 as the tournament progresses. For example, the ball for the final match was supposed to be in the game at the end of June, and special players from Euro 2020 were supposed to be available in myClub throughout the tournament. Konami has planned Euro 2020 themed game days and so on. If Euro 2020 comes out in April as planned, and the tournament is rescheduled, then all plans will have to be postponed until the summer of 2021.
