At the end of June
Statements by Sony and Konami, the publisher of PES 2019, didn't really clear things up, although it did reveal who was driving the change. "This decision has been made by Sony, so please send your request to them."
Sony did not give any details about the cancellation in its statement. "We've decided to make changes to the PS Plus Free Games lineup this month and will be offering Detroit: Become Human Digital Deluxe Edition instead of PES 2019 to subscribers," the post reads. βThis was a decision we decided to make as a company, we apologize for any inconvenience.β
Perhaps it's some problem with the contract, which turned out at a late stage. Maybe Sony was just trying to reassure the fans, who were not happy with the composition of the July games, where in addition to the sports PES, interesting only to football fans, only unpretentious races were offered. In any case, Sony's decision does not seem to be to Konami's liking. And that part of PS Plus subscribers who were already waiting for the opportunity to get a football simulator was also unlikely to be delighted. Many people also bought Detroit: Become Human at a discounted price in last month's sale, so they weren't too happy about this giveaway either.
