As planned by the βappleβ empire, a feature of the device was to be the ability to simultaneously recharge several gadgets β say, a Watch watch, an iPhone smartphone, and an AirPods headphone case.
The station was originally scheduled for release in 2018. Alas, serious difficulties arose during the development of AirPower. It was reported, in particular, that the device was very hot. In addition, there were communication problems. Plus, it was about interference.
It seems that Apple specialists have not been able to overcome the difficulties. In this regard, the company from Cupertino is forced to announce the curtailment of the project.
βAfter putting a lot of effort into the development of AirPower, we ultimately decided to close the project as not meeting our high standards. We apologize to those customers who were waiting for its launch. We continue to believe that the future is in wireless technology, and we intend to continue to develop this direction,β said Dan Riccio, Apple's senior vice president of hardware engineering.
