A group of US senators introduced a bill on Tuesday that would limit the Trump administration's ability to ease pressure on Chinese tech giant Huawei without the involvement of the US Congress.

Congress seeks to thwart Trump's attempts to ease restrictions on Huawei

The Defending America's 5G Future Act, drafted by Republican Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas and Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, aims to prevent Huawei from being blacklisted from the Entity List without consent US Congress.

“Our bill confirms the president's decision to blacklist Huawei. American companies should not sell our enemies the tools they will use to spy on the Americans,” said Tom Cotton.
