Code for All competition to promote open source software development

On July 10, the acceptance of applications for participation in the new competitive internship program for schoolchildren and students "Code for All" will end. The competition was initiated by Postgres Professional and Yandex, which were later joined by BellSoft and CyberOK. The launch of the program was supported by the Circle Movement of the National Technology Initiative (NTI).

Participants of "Code for All" will write code for the existing projects of the organizing companies under the guidance of mentors. Each trainee will be able to work remotely and will receive a monthly scholarship or a final remuneration from program partners in the amount of up to 180 thousand rubles for the entire period. You can apply for several areas - creating patches for the PostgreSQL DBMS (Postgres Professional), cybersecurity solutions (CyberOK), fixing bugs and introducing new features in Java (BellSoft), as well as developing Yandex tools and services (Yandex Database, Yandex CatBoost, Hermione technology, etc.).

“Many employees of our company started working with open source while still students,” said Ivan Panchenko, Deputy General Director of Postgres Professional. — A timely choice allows you to quickly integrate into the developer community and gain bright and productive experience during your studies for further professional development. For companies developing free software, the issue of community development is also extremely important. Therefore, after talking with colleagues from Yandex, we decided to organize the “Code for All” program aimed at promoting the development of open source code.”

Applications for participation in the program will last until July 10, 2022, information on the selection process will be announced by the end of July, work on projects together with mentors will take place from July to September, summing up is scheduled for August-September of this year. To apply for an internship, you need to select the area of ​​interest, fill out an application describing in detail your contribution to open source projects, and attach a motivational essay. Some internships will be available to participants aged 14 and over, some are intended for participants over 18 years of age.
