In Russia, there may be a shortage of laptop computers in the near future. According to RBC, market participants are warning about this.

Coronavirus may provoke a shortage of laptops in Russia

It is noted that in the first half of March in our country there was a significant increase in demand for laptops. This is explained by two factors - the depreciation of the ruble against the dollar and euro, as well as the spread of the new coronavirus.

Due to the sharp rise in exchange rates, many consumers rushed to implement plans to purchase laptop computers. Moreover, sales of laptops priced above 40 thousand rubles increased the most.

The spread of coronavirus, in turn, has led to delays in the supply of new laptops from China. The fact is that the disease provoked the suspension of the work of factories producing computer equipment and disrupted the activities of supply channels.

As a result, major electronics distributors are almost out of laptops in their warehouses. At the same time, the transition of many companies to remote work may lead to a further deterioration of the situation.

β€œIn the b2b segment, there has been immediate demand for laptops and personal computers, which is associated with the massive transition of employees of large companies to remote work due to the spread of coronavirus,” writes RBC.

Let us add that, as of March 20, the coronavirus has infected more than 245 thousand people around the world. Over 10 thousand deaths have been recorded.
