It has been 55 years since the formation of the Space Control Center (SCSC). In honor of this event, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation published statistics on the detection and acceptance of various space objects for escort.
The Central Control Commission was created in March 1965 to organize information support for the flight safety of domestic spacecraft, control over the activities of foreign states in outer space and ensure the country's security in space and from space.
It is noted that over the past years, a unique software and algorithmic support for space control has been created. A specialized platform allows you to process information in real time.
During the work of the center, warnings were issued about 1487 dangerous approaches of space objects with the Mir orbital station. In the case of the International Space Station (ISS), the number of such warnings to date is 204.
In addition, 1628 dangerous encounters between objects and spacecraft of the domestic orbital constellation were recorded.
In total, during the operation of the center, specialists have carried out work to detect and accept for tracking more than 255 thousand space objects.
