Beresheet is an Israeli lunar lander built by private company SpaceIL with support from the Israeli government. It could become the first private spacecraft to reach the surface of the Moon, as previously only states could do this: the USA, the USSR and China.
Unfortunately, today, at about 22:25 Moscow time, the main engine of the vehicle failed during landing, and therefore the braking maneuver was not completed to the end. βWe had an engine failure. Unfortunately, we were not able to land successfully,β admitted Ofer Doron, one of the project coordinators.
