Krita 4.2.9

On March 26, a new version of the graphic editor was released Chalk 4.2.9.

Chalk - a graphics editor on Qt, formerly part of the KOffice package, is now one of the brightest representatives of free software and is considered one of the most powerful graphics editors for artists.

Extensive but not exhaustive list of fixes and improvements:

  • The brush outline no longer flickers when hovering over the canvas.
  • Added spray mode, color smudge brush spray frequency, new brush shape flattening ratio setting for color smudge brush.
  • Added the function of splitting a layer into a selection mask.
  • Fixed a checkerboard transparency issue on HDR displays.
  • Fixed an issue with zooming in on a selection that expands in one direction.
  • Fixed a bug that occurred when using the onion skin mode on non-animated layers.
  • Increased the limit in Layer Displacement to 100.
  • Fixed crash when opening .kra with wrong clone source.
  • Fixed a crash when adding a color with an eyedropper to a remote palette.
  • Restored files are now stored in QStandardPaths::PicturesLocation.
  • Fixed a bug with displaying the hand cursor if there is no paint mask.
  • Fixed the logic of parameters in the brush selection dialog.
  • The Krita log is separated from the system information.
  • The Canvas.setRotation method has been fixed in Python.
  • Used by Qt::Popup for the color picker popup.
  • Layers with alpha disabled are correctly exported as "svg:src-atop" for ORA.
  • Added a close button icon for the "About Krita" dialog box.
  • Fixed a memory leak in the preset history window.
  • Added warning about restarting Krita after enabling or disabling plugins.
  • Worked around a bug in color management in Qt 5.14 where it was not possible to save PNG files.
