The International Data Corporation (IDC) has estimated the size of the global market for wearable electronic devices in the second quarter of this year.
It is reported that sales of gadgets on an annualized basis have almost doubled - by 85,2%. The market volume in unit terms reached 67,7 million units.
The most popular devices are designed to be worn in the ears. These are various headsets and fully wireless headphones that are submersible.
It is noted that "ear" wearable gadgets took 46,9% of the total market in the second quarter of this year. For comparison: a year earlier, this figure was 24,8%.
The top wearable audio manufacturers include Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Bose and ReSound. Moreover, the "apple" empire occupies approximately half of the world market.
In the future, the supply of wearable devices will continue to grow. So, in 2023, the market size in piece terms, according to IDC forecasts, will reach 279,0 million pieces.
