The Chinese company Xiaomi has revealed official data on global smartphone sales in the first quarter of this year.
It is reported that in the period from January to March inclusive, Xiaomi sold 27,9 million "smart" cellular devices. This is slightly less than last year's result, when shipments were 28,4 million units.
Thus, the demand for Xiaomi smartphones decreased by about 1,7-1,8% year-on-year. However, the average drop in the global smartphone market as a whole in the first quarter was even more significant - 6,6% according to IDC.
Xiaomi's quarterly revenue from sales of smartphones reached 27 billion yuan (about $3,9 billion). This is 16,2% more than the result for the first quarter of last year.
The average price of Xiaomi devices sold for the year has risen by 30% in the native Chinese market and by 12% in the international market.
It is also noted that the total quarterly income of Xiaomi Group amounted to 43,8 billion yuan (approximately $6,3 billion). Growth in annual terms - 27,2%.
