Kaspersky Lab has entered the eSports market and will fight cheaters

Kaspersky Lab developed cloud solution for eSports Kaspersky Anti-Cheat. It is designed to identify unscrupulous players who dishonestly receive prizes in the game, earn qualifications in competitions and in one way or another create an advantage for themselves using special software or equipment.

The company entered the eSports market and entered into its first contract with the Hong Kong platform Starladder, which organizes the tournament of the same name.

The gaming industry is losing profits due to scammers. According to a study by Irdeto, after learning about cheating in a multiplayer online game, 77% of players decide not to play it anymore. Alexey Kondakov, founder of the esports organization Vega Squadron, told Kommersant that violations at tournaments occur quite often. Therefore, for example, the gaming platforms Faceit and ESEA have their own anti-cheat.

“In addition, if after the match something confused you about your opponents, you can always appeal,” he notes. This is especially true for match-fixing, which also occurs in e-sports.

Kaspersky Anti-Cheat works in real time, keeps statistics of violations and transmits the generated report to the judges of cyber tournaments, but does not affect the course of the game.

To begin with, the product will work at the StarLadder & i-League Berlin Major 2019 tournaments in CS:GO, PUBG and Dota 2.

Recently, the Shenzhen cyber police arrested four people who sold cheats for Dota 2. Over the course of a year, they earned about $140 thousand from this. They now face up to five years in prison on charges of developing malware.
