LCG Entertainment Explains the Differences Between Old and New Telltale

Earlier this year, LCG Entertainment resurrected the Telltale Games brand. And now, when the first project of the AdHoc studio - The Wolf Among Us 2 - was submitted, details of the revival of famous developers began to be revealed to us.

LCG Entertainment Explains the Differences Between Old and New Telltale

Speaking to IGN, LCG Entertainment CEO Jaimie Ottilie explained the differences between the old and new Telltale. According to him, the company took over the brand and several franchises previously owned by the studio. But LCG Entertainment is a completely different business from former Telltale Games employees, including The Wolf Among Us directors Nick Herman and Dennis Lenart, screenwriter Pierre Shorette and former VP of Engineering Zach Litton (Zac Litton).

"We were upset with people who assumed, without even giving us a chance, that this was an opportunistic or easy way to make money off of the game catalog," Ottilie said. β€œWe all came together with the intention of supporting the company and continuing the legacy of telling stories that people want to play.” However, most of this was expected, and really all we can do is put our heads down and focus on creating great content worthy of the Telltale name."

Old Telltale Games closed in September last year. This led to massive layoffs affecting about 270 people. Many employees told about processing and risky management decisions, in particular, hopes for one investor.

β€œWe take a measured and methodical approach to growth to ensure we can provide a stable work environment. We build this into our culture from the very beginning,” Ottilie assured. β€œAll we can do is be frank; we can't control whether critics hear us or believe us. The truth is that we are a new company - with different ownership and management, and a different approach to how we structure a studio in today's market."

It is not yet known when The Wolf Among Us 2 will be released.
