The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted LG Display a patent for a curious wearable device.
The document refers to an electronic bracelet designed to be worn on the wrist. Such a device is proposed to be equipped with a flexible display.
The document describes the mechanical design of the gadget. As you can see in the illustrations, the device will consist of a series of links connected to each other by a special mount. They will be covered by a flexible screen.
As planned by LG, users will be able to bend the gadget at will or give it a completely flat shape to work on, say, a table.
Curiously, the patent addresses several possible smart bracelet configurations. In one embodiment, it has a relatively small width. Another version involves the creation of a kind of hybrid of a bracelet and a flexible smartphone wrapped around the wrist.
The patent application was filed at the end of 2017, and the document was registered just a few days ago. Whether LG is going to release commercial gadgets with the described design is not yet clear.
