A new version of the library has been released libheif, designed for encoding and decoding images in HEIF and AVIF formats.
Major changes:
- integration rav1e, which provides faster encoding compared to AOM;
- support for AVIF with a bit depth of 10/12 bits;
- support for AVIF in the gdk-pixbuf loader (supplied with the library);
- support for NCLX color profiles;
- HEIF and AVIF encoding with chroma 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 (with HDR support in case of AVIF).
