Linux 5.2

A new version of the linux kernel 5.2 has been released. This version accepted 15100 from 1882 developers. The size of the available patch is 62MB. Removed 531864 lines of code.

Innovations:

  • A new attribute for files and directories +F is available. Thanks to which it is now possible to make files in different registers be considered as one file. This attribute is available on the ext4 file system.
  • XFS has an infrastructure for keeping track of the state of the file system.
  • An API for managing caching has become available in the fuse subsystem.
  • CEPH now has the ability to export snapshots via NFS
  • Added support for GOST R 34.10-2012 encryption algorithm
  • Added protection against MDS attacks on Intel processors.
  • You can also now use IPv6 gateways for IPv4 routes.
  • There is also support for the dm_trust module, which can emulate bad blocks and disk errors.
