London data centers will heat thousands of homes - the authorities have allocated Β£36 million to connect data centers to heating systems

The UK government has allocated Β£36 million ($44,5 million) to upgrade West London's central heating system. According to Datacenter Dynamics, the system will allow the use of β€œgarbage” heat from data centers to heat up to 10 thousand homes. Last summer, a scandal erupted here when it emerged that new housing projects in the area had been put on hold because data centers had reserved all the power available at local substations. The Green Heat Network Fund (GHNF) of the country's Ministry of Energy intends to spend funds on creating a system capable of using heat from data centers with coolant temperatures from +20 to +35 Β°C. The implementation of the project will be carried out by the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC), founded by the capital's mayor's office, which is engaged in the improvement of the western area of the capital. The infrastructure company Aecom will develop the heating network.
