Earlier this week, 2K Games fully unveiled Mafia: Trilogy, and also released Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition. The first is a remaster; the second is the edition with all the additions. And everything would be fine, but Mafia II: Definitive Edition turned out to be full of bugs.
Players complain about numerous glitches - including pop-ups and performance that makes the game feel like a slideshow - on all platforms. However, most of all they appear on consoles, mainly on the PlayStation 4.
In the video below, for example, while driving on a rainy night, strange lighting artifacts appear (apparently due to a glitch in the rendering of lightning), which simultaneously leads to a drop in performance to about 5 fps.
And here the details of the environment emerge literally a stone's throw from the player.
There are many more videos of various glitches from Mafia II: Definitive Edition on YouTube. So far, 2K Games has not commented on the situation. In addition, the remaster is not the responsibility of Hangar 13, but of D3t Ltd., which also helped develop The Room and Shenmue I & II.
