Network sources report that Mail.ru Group and VimpelCom have restored partnership cooperation, having found a compromise solution on all controversial issues. However, the conditions under which the companies’ cooperation will continue were not disclosed. Representatives of VimpelCom confirmed that cooperation has been resumed and the companies will continue to interact in various business areas.
Recall a few days ago that clients of the telecom operator Beeline experienced difficulties when interacting with Mail.ru services. The fact is that the telecom operator has recorded a restriction of access for its subscribers in Russia to the Vkontakte social network. The speed of access of Beeline subscribers to the resource decreased several times, while other clients could not access the site at all.
An inspection carried out by the operator showed that on June 10, the Mail.ru company disconnected direct traffic channels between the social network and subscribers of the telecom operator. It was especially noted that these actions are a “unilateral initiative” of the partner.
Mail.ru reported that last month Beeline unilaterally increased the cost of SMS services for the company’s users by 6 times. Further negotiations did not allow reaching a compromise solution, so the company decided to suspend the service of a special direct channel in order to reduce costs when interacting with the telecom operator.
It is worth noting that the companies’ actions were criticized by the Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Russian Federation. The department noted that the current situation is not normal, since the interests of not only companies are affected, but also a significant number of users of communication services and various applications. The FAS did not rule out conducting additional market analysis to prevent similar situations from arising in the future.
